How we calculate
Every number shown, how we get it, and what we assume.
We start from your price. SlabRoute is not a price-comp site. Bring a comp from your usual source, and we'll tell you where that price turns into the most money in your account.
Default assumptions
- US seller, US buyer, 7% buyer sales tax. You can change the rate under "More options".
- Self-ship platforms (eBay, Whatnot, MySlabs): the buyer pays $5 shipping and your label costs $5, so it nets to $0. eBay, Whatnot and MySlabs still charge fees on the shipping and tax.
- Vault platforms (Fanatics Collect, Arena Club): the card is already in the vault. Shipping it in isn't included.
- COMC: Elite processing, cash-out to PayPal. Shipping cards to COMC isn't included.
- eBay: no store, Above Standard seller, no Promoted Listings. Whatnot: Standard tier, sports single.
Fee formulas by platform
| Platform | What we charge in the calculator |
|---|---|
| eBay | 13.25% of the buyer's total (item + shipping + tax) up to $7,500, then 2.35% above that. With a Basic+ Store it's 12.35% up to $2,500, then 2.35%. Plus $0.40 per order ($0.30 if $10 or less). Processing is included. |
| Whatnot | 8% commission on the item (lower at volume tiers) + 2.9% + $0.30 processing on the buyer's total. Promo: 0% commission on the part of a sports-singles order above $1,500. |
| MySlabs | 3% seller fee + 3.49% + $0.49 processing on the full purchase (item + buyer's 1% fee + shipping + tax). |
| Fanatics Collect Buy Now | 6% if listed under 120% of Card Ladder value, 12% at or above. ACH payout assumed free. |
| Fanatics Collect Weekly Auction | No seller fee. You get a bonus on the hammer: 0% under $50, 2% for $50–99, 4% for $100–999, 6% for $1k–4,999, 8% for $5k–9,999, 10% for $10k–249,999, 12.5% for $250k–999,999, 15% for $1M+. Buyers pay a 20% premium. |
| Arena Club | 10% seller fee. Withdrawal assumed free. |
| COMC fixed price → cash | $2.50 graded / $2.00 raw processing, 5% sale fee, then 10% cash-out (+$1 if under $250). |
| COMC Direct-to-Cash auction | 8% + $5 under $1,000, 5% at $1,000 and up. No cash-out fee. |
Auctions vs. fixed price
Auctions stay in the ranking but are tagged Auction, price not guaranteed. If an auction ranks first, the result line says "Best if it hits your price" and names the best guaranteed (fixed-price) option right beside it. On Fanatics Weekly, buyers pay the hammer plus 20%. There are two ways to read "my price":
- Buyer pays my price all-in (default, conservative): a buyer willing to spend $1,000 total bids about $833. You get $833 plus your bonus.
- Hammer equals my price: the winning bid is your price, and you get the price plus your bonus. This can come out above your price.
This choice applies when price premiums are off. With premiums on, the Fanatics Weekly premium is measured on the hammer, so the hammer = your eBay price × (1 + premium) and the buyer's 20% sits on top.
You can turn auctions off under "More options" to compare fixed-price venues only.
Price premium vs eBay
Fees aren't the only difference between platforms. Buyers on some platforms pay less for the same card and grade. With premiums on (the default), each platform's sale price = your eBay price × (1 + premium), and fees are calculated on that price. You can switch premiums off or edit any value on the calculator.
| Platform | Default | Range | Confidence | Evidence |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| eBay | 0% | Baseline | All prices are relative to eBay sold prices for the same card and grade. | |
| Fanatics Collect Weekly Auction | +5% (on the hammer) | −19% to +19% | Low (small sample) | Based on real sales 4 PSA 10 cards, Fanatics vs eBay sold, Aug–Oct 2026 (14 Fanatics and 55 eBay sales, details below). Median of the per-card ratios, range = lowest to highest card. |
| COMC Direct-to-Cash | −9% | n/a | Low (derived) | Sells as an eBay auction. On the same 2,443 cards, eBay auctions ran about 9% below all eBay sales (from UltraBall's 97.9% and 89.4% medians). Our Oct 2026 check on 4 PSA 10 cards pointed the same way (eBay auctions a median ~5% below all eBay sales). |
| Fanatics Collect Buy Now | +14% | −11% to +26% | Low (small sample) | Based on real sales 4 PSA 10 cards, Fanatics Buy Now vs eBay sold, Jul–Oct 2026 (35 Fanatics Buy Now sales vs 19 eBay fixed-price sales, details below). Plain sale price, no buyer premium. Median of the per-card ratios, range = lowest to highest card. |
| Whatnot | 0% | up to +57% | Assumed same as eBay | Not enough public sales data yet. One small 2024 buyer sample had slabs and singles 57% above 130point comps (Breaks and Takes), but sellers also report auctions closing below eBay. |
| Arena Club, MySlabs, COMC fixed price | 0% | n/a | Assumed same as eBay | Not enough public sales data yet. Arena Club doesn't show sold prices publicly; MySlabs had only one recent sale in our check (Sep 2026), too few to use. |
"Assumed same as eBay" means 0%: we don't have enough public sales data to say buyers pay more or less there, so only fees separate those platforms. If your own sold comps show a difference, type your own % in the price premium boxes on the calculator; your numbers replace ours.
How we got the Fanatics Weekly number
On Oct 26, 2026 we pulled sold prices for 4 PSA 10 base cards: recent Fanatics Collect Weekly Auction results (Aug–Oct 2026) and the 15 most recent eBay sales of each. Shipping is excluded. Fanatics results include the buyer's 20% premium, so we divided by 1.2 to get the hammer, which is what the seller's bonus is paid on. We compared each card's median hammer with its median eBay auction price (like for like), then took the median of the four ratios.
| Card (PSA 10) | Fanatics hammer median | eBay auction median | vs eBay auctions | eBay all-sales median | vs all eBay sales |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2018 Prizm Luka Doncic #280 | $162.50 (6 sales) | $200.50 (3) | −19% | $222.50 (10) | −27% |
| 2023 Prizm Victor Wembanyama #136 | $310.00 (3) | $319.50 (14) | −3% | $320.00 (15) | −3% |
| 2020 Prizm Justin Herbert #325 | $54.00 (3) | $48.00 (7) | +12.5% | $56.00 (15) | −4% |
| 2018 Topps Chrome Shohei Ohtani #150* | $1,125.00 (2) | $944.50 (12) | +19% | $945.00 (15) | +19% |
| Median | +4.8% → +5% | −3.4% |
* Some Fanatics Ohtani titles say "Pitching". eBay titles mix both, so we treated them as the same base card, but that card's ratio is low confidence. Without Ohtani the median would be −3%. One $660 eBay Doncic sale was dropped as an outlier. Arena Club doesn't publish sold prices, and MySlabs had only one sale in the window.
How much to trust it: low. Four cards and a few sales per card can swing a lot, and two of the four cards came out below eBay. A much larger Pokémon study (UltraBall, 1,233 cards, Jul–Oct 2026) found buyers' all-in Fanatics prices at about 90% of eBay, which means a hammer roughly 25% below eBay. We'll update the default as we collect more sports-card sales. If you have your own comps, use them.
How we got the Fanatics Buy Now number
From Fanatics' public sold-items page (sales-history.fanaticscollect.com) we took 2026 Buy Now sales of the same 4 PSA 10 base cards. Buy Now prices are plain sale prices with no buyer premium, and shipping is excluded. We compared each card's median with its median eBay fixed-price sale (Buy It Now plus accepted best offers, like for like), then took the median of the four ratios. The premium is applied to the list price, and the 6% or 12% seller fee is charged on that.
| Card (PSA 10) | Fanatics Buy Now median | eBay fixed-price median | vs eBay fixed price | eBay all-sales median | vs all eBay sales |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2018 Prizm Luka Doncic #280 | $199.50 (10 sales, Jul 24–Oct 20) | $225.00 (7) | −11% | $222.50 (10) | −10% |
| 2023 Prizm Victor Wembanyama #136 | $380.00 (7, Sep 17–Oct 26) | $359.00 (1)† | +6% | $320.00 (15) | +19% |
| 2020 Prizm Justin Herbert #325 | $72.00 (8, Aug 2–Oct 11) | $59.00 (8) | +22% | $56.00 (15) | +29% |
| 2018 Topps Chrome Shohei Ohtani #150* | $1,315.00 (10, Aug 22–Oct 20) | $1,045.00 (3) | +26% | $945.00 (15) | +39% |
| Median | +13.9% → +14% | +24% |
† Only one eBay fixed-price Wembanyama sale, so its all-sales comparison (+19%) is shown too. * Pitching and plain Ohtani titles are mixed on both sites. How much to trust it: low. Four cards, few eBay fixed-price sales, and one card (Doncic) came out below eBay. If your own comps differ, type your own %.
The worked example below has premiums off. With premiums on, a $1,425 card nets $1,586.03 on Fanatics Weekly (hammer $1,496.25 plus a 6% bonus; an auction, so not guaranteed), $1,527.03 on Fanatics Buy Now (sells for $1,624.50, 6% fee) and $1,231.91 on COMC Direct-to-Cash.
PSA 9 and PSA 8 estimate
For graded cards, the price you enter is the PSA 10 eBay price. Pick PSA 9 or PSA 8 and the calculator estimates that grade's price, then runs the same fee math on it. Estimates are shown as a typical value with a low-to-high range.
- PSA 9 as % of PSA 10 = 36.1% × (pop10 ÷ pop9)0.614, with the pop ratio clamped to 0.035–1.35. The fewer 10s relative to 9s, the bigger the drop to a 9.
- PSA 8 as % of PSA 9 = 0.380 × (pop9 ÷ pop8)0.31, with the ratio clamped to 0.06–16 and the result capped at 1 (a PSA 8 never beats a PSA 9).
- Ranges are the middle half of the fit's errors: ×0.73 to ×1.21 for PSA 9, ×0.67 to ×1.54 for PSA 8 (never above the PSA 9 high).
- Fit: log-log regression on 25 cards from SportsCardsPro (Oct 26, 2026). R² is 0.75 for 9/10 and 0.74 for 8/9.
- No pops? We use a card-type preset: the median and min-to-max range from the sample. If you enter PSA 10 and 9 pops but no PSA 8 pop, PSA 8 uses the preset's 8-to-9 ratio. You can also override either percentage directly.
| Preset | PSA 9 % of 10 (median, range) | PSA 8 % of 10 (median, range) | Sample cards |
|---|---|---|---|
| Modern high-pop | 35% (24–42%) | 26% (16–37%) | 7 modern base rookies where PSA 10s are 70%+ of PSA 9s (Doncic, Zion, Burrow, Trae Young, McDavid, Morant, Stroud) |
| Modern tough / low-pop | 30% (10–36%) | 21% (4.5–27%) | 7 cards from 2000 on with fewer 10s (Herbert, LaMelo Silver, Lawrence Silver, LeBron and Curry Chrome, Brady Bowman Chrome, Rodgers Chrome) |
| Vintage (pre-2000) | 7.6% (2–27%) | 2.6% (0.2–15%) | 11 vintage rookies (1986 Fleer Jordan, Rice, Griffey, Jeter SP, Elway, Montana, McGwire, Sanders, Bird/Magic, Kobe Chrome, Manning) |
Any single card can land well outside the range. Check recent sold comps for your exact card and grade before you list. Further reading: CardTrends PSA 9 estimates, Hobby Card Index PSA 10 premiums, Cllct PSA 10 vs 9.
What's an estimate
- Fanatics payout fees: free ACH ($50 wire or rush) comes from a third-party summary. Our math matches a real $1,425 Buy Now sale that paid $1,339.50.
- Arena Club withdrawals: no fee is published. Stripe Connect instant payouts may cost extra.
- MySlabs: its fee table says 3%, but its terms mention a 2% minimum. We use 3%.
- Fanatics $3 minimum auction commission: the mechanics aren't published. It only matters for very small hammers.
- Whatnot: the 0%-above-$1,500 commission is a limited-time promo. Instant-payout fees weren't checked.
- Not modeled: eBay Promoted Listings, international fees, Below Standard surcharges, COMC storage after 90 days, PSA Vault/Consignment, Fanatics Premier ($25k+), FanCash payouts.
